Welcome to Starboards
A Local Landmark Since 2004
For years, the Portsmouth Convention & Visitors Bureau operated The Kiosk as a
seasonal information booth. In 2004, the building changed hands but the
original purpose remained. That tradition of serving visitors continues.
While our name Starboards is a nautical term, it was derived from two
significant Portsmouth landmarks. Located on the site of the former local
newspaper, The Portsmouth Star, we are directly across from the old Seaboard
Railroad Terminal at
High
Street Landing.
The cottage-style kiosk was renovated to complement the historic Olde Towne
neighborhood. As a tribute to the area’s maritime heritage, the exterior
counters were constructed from the same lumber used to build the
Pilot Schooner Virginia. In addition, some of the nautical décor including buoys, a brass
sailboat weathervane and a vintage ship’s grate used as a table were provided by
Skipjack Nautical Wares of Olde Towne.
 Eventually,
Everybody Lands at Starboards
Today, Starboards has become a popular year-round gathering spot for locals,
visitors and boaters alike.
Locally owned and
operated, we offer the finest coffee in Olde Towne. Our
Seattle’s Best

We have become famous for our Signature
Iced Coffee Drinks made with our own Koffee Kubes™
(coffee ice cubes).
Whether you stop by for coffee or
information, our goal is to provide a quality experience. We are just
steps from specialty and antique shops, restaurants, museums, attractions and
the nTelos Wireless Pavilion at Harbor Center. If you are coming to Virginia or Hampton Roads, Olde Towne
Portsmouth is a must see. If you take the
Elizabeth River
Ferry
to High Street Landing, you will soon discover we are truly at Portsmouth’s
Waterfront Gateway.
